Conducted by Céline Pelcé and the Atelier de l'Ours, Le Banquet is a performative work co-designed with two classes from the Césaria Évora Middle school in Montreuil, which questions our relationship to food in the city.
For a year, we met and discovered the gastronomic territory of Montreuil and its protagonists (non-profits, farmers, craftsmen, cooperatives, politicians) to constitute a gustative and narrative experience (Le Banquet) whose content is drawn locally and relates the human and culinary specificities of the surveyed territory.
Among the dishes offered, wild edible plants gathered in the educational garden of the school played a role of disruptive element, echoing the investigation carried out with the college: the question of the local, confronted with that of multiculturalism, the ordinary or the exotic. The Banquet ended with a collective ritual: breaking one's plate, made of raw earth, in order to disperse the seeds it contained. Where one passes from eater to gardener, in an immediate exchange with the nourishing garden.
